Meet Marjorie Brisco
Workforce Challenge:
Inglewood resident, Marjorie Brisco, visited the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Center for employment and training services following long periods of unemployment. During her initial career counseling sessions, she expressed her desire to transfer her education and workforce development skills of over 10 years, to a position in human resources with a focus on recruiting and staff development.
Workforce Solution:
Working with her career counselor, she realized her lack of formal training in the areas of employment laws, benefits and human resources information systems. Marjorie was enrolled in the Human Resources Management Course at Loyola Marymount University Extension.
Outcome and Benefits:
While completing the program, she successfully secured employment with Hollywood Park Management, LLC as a Recruitment Specialist with an hourly wage of $30.00.
