Meet Rodney Hironymous

Workforce Challenge:

Gardena resident, Rodney Hironymous, faced a second layoff from his position in the automotive industry. As a tenured buyer with experience in procurement, product development and contract management, he visited the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Center in hopes of obtaining industry recognized certifications to enhance his career, avoid future layoffs, and achieve career mobility.

Workforce Solution:

Working with his career counselor, he developed an individual employment plan, which included occupational skills training. After carefully researching occupational outlook date and exploring for the most suitable program based on his existing skills and background, Rodney decided to enroll in the UCLA Extension’s Supply Chain Management Course.

Outcome and Benefits:

After completing the program, Rodney secured contractual employment with Torrance based employer, Aerotek, as a Procurement Specialist with an hourly wage of $37.00.

“I am so grateful for the support received from the center. I am always available to tell others about my experiences and highly recommend your programs to anyone in need.”
