Meet Juan Mendrano

Workforce Challenge:

Juan Mendrano, a Torrance resident, was eager to find employment to sustain his family as they were living out of his car. His biggest issue was securing the funds he needed for transportation and to obtain the necessary skills he lacked in order to secure employment.

Workforce Solution:

Juan reached out to the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Center and was enrolled into a Truck Driving Program. He also received gas cards to ensure he had the means to attend class as scheduled.

Outcome and Benefits:

Upon successfully completing his training program, Juan obtained his Class A Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements, and received various job opportunities. Shortly thereafter, he and his family moved out of his car and into a rented space.
