Shortly after her referral she was placed with partnering work site, Shields for Families to gain essential general office skills. Shields for families is a community-based non-profit organization located in South LA serving individuals and families through comprehensive and collaborative social services in the areas of mental health, substance abuse treatment and supportive services. In her role she was responsible for providing clerical support to program staff and program participants.

Outcome and Benefits:

Ms. Thompson was offered a full time staff position with the organization as a program specialist with an hourly wage of $19.23. She has made a successful transition to employment and continues to gain valuable experience.
