Workforce History:
For 29 years and counting, Fresh & Meaty Burger has been a place that has served up the most delicious and freshest burgers in Los Angeles. They have expanded their horizons to other areas such as Cleveland, Ohio, Carson, Studio City and Watts.
Workforce Challenge:
The relationship between the SBWIB and Fresh & Meaty Burgers was established earlier this year. The business was opening a new store in Carson and the owners stated the need for some employment assistance for their new store. They trusted the SBWIB to find them great employees, and use the Paid Work Experience (PWEX) program.
Outcomes & Benefits:
For the past 3 months, the SBWIB has sent several youths to work at their Carson location. The youth have gained great customer service skills and work experience. As a result of the aforementioned partnership and utilization of the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Centers - Carson services, 6 Carson residents have been hired for permanent employment. Fresh & Meaty is always willing to participate with the recruitment fairs that South Bay One-Stop hosts.
Owner/Area Manager Shaleah Upshaw has indicated her satisfaction with the courteous and professional service delivery by South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Centers - Carson and has stated this as the reason she is committed to continuing the partnership with the SBWIB.
